Ten of thousands of pets are in peril because of the devastating fires blanketing Southern California, Susan Sholar, President of the California Federation of Dog Clubs (CFODC), has opened her California School of Dog Grooming in San Diego to coordinate both the distribution of donated pet supplies and available local boarding spaces.
We urge you to send pet food, collars, leashes, crates, and other pet supplies to the California School of Dog Grooming.
Local volunteers are also needed who can provide temporary foster care, kennel and boarding space, dog runs, or RV parking areas.
Financial contributions are gratefully accepted, and can be made out to “CFODC Fire Fund”
Displaced families needing help in providing for their pets’ security and well-being should also immediately contact the California Federation of Dog Clubs for assistance.

We are so grateful to everyone that has contributed to SAVE-A-DOG FOUNDATION for Misha so far. Thanks to the generosity of animal lovers everywhere, we have raised over $3,000.00 in less than a week. BUT we still have a long way to go.

We are writing to ask for your help if possible. We usually ask for others but this time it is for us. We recently planned to adopt a beautiful dog named Misha.

She is at the League For Animal Protection of Huntington dog shelter. We had given a verbal commitment to the shelter, but have since discovered that Misha has some issues that we cannot address. We have 3 dogs who are rescues 2 small Shitzus and a Shepherd mix. But because of Misha’s issues, we cannot take Misha in with our other dogs.
BUT if Misha stays at the shelter much longer, she may be put down. She is perfectly healthy, but needs alot of work. We have become emotionally attached to this dog and we want to make sure that she has a chance. To that end, we have been in contact with Sav-A-Dog Foundation, located in Red Hook, in Upstate NY. We have been working with a staff member at the animal shelter to get Misha to Sav-A-Dog Foundation so that she can be rehabilitated, a process that will take a long time, and hopefully adopted. If not, Misha will at least live out her life in a safe and loving enviornment.
Sav-A-Dog Foundation has been active in animal welfare in this region for almost 40 years. Sav-A-Dog provides an assortment of services including home care for surrendered animals, last chance for sheltered dogs who are running out of time, counseling, adoptions, spay/neuter information, and public education. They are a non-profit corporation (501.C3) This means that they depend on the support of animal lovers for donations.
The dogs live in Donna’s home (she is in charge of this area sanctuary). She told us that she has the “largest doggie door in the world” so that all the dogs, big and small can come and go from her house to her property. She does not use crates unless absolutely necessary in the beginning but as soon as the dogs realize that they are in a safe haven, they are allowed run of the house. The house is cleaned top to bottom at least 1X per day. The dogs are groomed and well fed. They are also loved unconditionally by this remarkable woman.
We have raised almost $1500, but we need your help to reach our goal of $5000 which will insure that Misha will have lifetime care. ANY amount will be appreciated.
A BE WIMZCAL! baseball cap will be given for contributions of $50 or more. Please include your mailing address so that we can send the cap(s) to you.
Checks should be made out to: Save-A-Dog Foundation Inc. and are tax deductible. Please include your email address so that we can send an acknowledgment.
